Información adicionalThe gold euro was first produced in 2002 for the introduction of the euro currency. The series replaced the popular gold mark. The coins are available in the sizes ¼ ounce, ½ ounce and 1 ounce with denominations of 50 euros, 100 euros and 200 euros. The gold euros are produced in a total of five different mints, which are located in Bavaria, Berlin, Stuttgart, Karlsruhe and Hamburg. The motifs embossed on the gold euro coins vary from year to year. Initially, the focus was on motifs relating to the introduction of the euro and the European Monetary Union. From 2003 to 2019, the motifs were dedicated to UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Germany. These motifs represent important cultural and historical sites that are recognized worldwide for their cultural or architectural value. Since their introduction to mark the launch of the euro in 2002, gold euro coins have occupied a unique position as collector's items and investment instruments.
