Información adicionalThe Somalia Elephant silver coins have been a popular collector coin with changing elephant motifs since 2004. These coins have been available in 1 oz denominations since 2004, and a 1 kg variant has also been available since 2011. Originally minted by the Bavarian Central Mint, they have been produced under license from the issuing country of Somalia by Geiger Edelmetalle AG in Switzerland since 2014. There was already a similar series called "Zambia Elephant" from Zambia in 1999 with annually changing elephant motifs until 2003. The elephant was depicted on coins in Africa and around the world due to its special significance and symbolism. These majestic animals are considered a symbol of strength, wisdom and perseverance and are of great importance in many African cultures. The use of their image on coins promotes awareness for the protection and conservation of these endangered animals and supports nature conservation projects.
